The challenge
The brief was for an image led site that enticed people to visit the Chichester area. It needed to be interactive and useful, allowing visitors to find accommodation, attractions, events etc quickly and efficiently, as well as provide inspiration and work alongside the printed visitor and attraction guides. There were also specific requirements around advertising and content management needs, as well as to be fully responsive and render beautifully across all platforms and devices.
The solution
Oyster designed a highly customised web solution to allow Visit Chichester to take control of their content effectively and efficiently. The site design is bold and simple, putting images at the forefront to give a good insight into the Chichester area as a tourist destination. We developed the itinerary planner much further, allowing visitors to adapt and save their itineraries as a short list for making decisions later.
The new maps are much more accurate and interactive, allowing visitors to search by location and then filter by category. We also totally redesigned the events section, adding features such as featured events, multi-day events, image galleries, share functions and also a comprehensive search facility.
